Josh McGuire

Founder and CEO, McGuire Legacy Group LLC

The Foundation of a Founder

Josh's journey as an entrepreneur was shaped by hard lessons, personal growth, and a commitment to building a better future. Those experiences instilled a belief that would guide him throughout his life:

We hold the keys that open and close the doors along our journey. While we cannot control every circumstance we encounter, we can choose which doors we walk through and which ones we leave behind.

That mindset became the foundation for how he approaches business, leadership, and life. Through challenges, setbacks, and opportunities, Josh learned that growth is not defined by where a person starts, but by the choices they make moving forward.

Driven by a desire to create opportunities rather than obstacles, he committed himself to building a stable life, raising a family, and helping others. That commitment ultimately led to a career centered on entrepreneurship, problem-solving, and creating businesses intended to serve people and leave a meaningful impact.

Learning by Building

Josh's career was built through hands-on experience, long before he pursued formal business education. He learned through work.

Companies trained him in construction and the skilled trades, giving him a practical foundation. From there, curiosity, tenacity, and necessity became his teachers.

His wife, Charlene, describes him as a fixer. When Josh sees a problem, he wants to understand it, take it apart, and find a way to solve it. That instinct served him well in construction, where each day presented a new challenge, an unexpected obstacle, or a situation requiring a practical answer.

Backed by experience, determination, and a willingness to bet on himself, Josh took the skills he had developed and began building businesses of his own.

Over more than 25 years, he has worked across construction, trucking, foreclosure and property preservation services, consulting, corporate operations, business development, and technology-driven ventures. His path required him to learn how to manage employees, vendors, clients, equipment, logistics, projects, finances, changing markets, and the consequences of decisions made without perfect information.

Some ventures succeeded. Others brought painful lessons.

Each one taught him something.

Josh adapted, rebuilt, and kept moving forward.

Where Purpose Took Root

Josh’s experience in foreclosure and property preservation services became an important turning point in his understanding of business.

The work was legitimate and necessary, and Josh initially believed he was providing a valuable service to banks and financial institutions. In many ways, he was. But he also became increasingly aware that the properties he secured, maintained, and restored represented more than assets on a work order.

They had been people’s homes.

Behind many of those properties were families affected by financial hardship, job loss, illness, or circumstances he would never fully know. Although the work was necessary, the experience gave Josh a deeper appreciation for the human stories behind every property. He became increasingly focused on building businesses that created value by helping people move forward rather than simply managing outcomes after hardship had occurred.

That experience changed his definition of success.

Business could not be about profit alone. It had to solve real problems while recognizing the people affected by them. That realization gradually moved Josh away from ventures centered primarily on transactions and assets and toward building businesses centered on people, service, dignity, and lasting value.

Experience Meets Education

Mentors also played a defining role in Josh's development.

Throughout his career, he encountered people who recognized potential in him, shared hard-earned wisdom, challenged his thinking, and encouraged him to keep growing as a leader. Their influence reinforced a lesson he carries today: knowledge becomes most valuable when it is shared with others.

Determined to build upon the lessons earned through experience, Josh eventually returned to school. He earned both an Associate Degree and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Project Management.

Rather than replacing what he had learned through decades of work, education strengthened it. The combination of hands-on experience and formal business training provided a deeper framework for leadership, operations, strategic planning, and problem-solving.

Today, Josh draws on both perspectives: the practical lessons learned by building businesses in the real world and the disciplines gained through higher education.

The Meaning of Legacy

The origins of Josh's present work are not found in a classroom or business plan. They are found in the people who shaped his life.

More than 20 years ago, Josh lost a close friend and business mentor. The loss forced him to reflect on everything that disappears when a person is gone: their voice, stories, wisdom, experiences, personality, and the lessons that mattered to the people who knew them.

From that loss came an idea.

Josh imagined a way to preserve more than names, dates, and photographs. He envisioned a way to capture the stories, experiences, wisdom, and human connections that give a life its meaning. The technology available at the time was not ready for the full vision, but the idea never left him.

Years later, life would give Josh a far deeper understanding of what legacy truly means.

His youngest son, Joshua Jr., developed a rare autoimmune kidney disease at just eight months of age. Josh and Charlene spent 27 days beside their son at a children's hospital in Portland, uncertain whether he would survive. It became one of the most frightening and challenging experiences of their lives.

Joshua pulled through.

The experience stripped the idea of legacy down to its most honest and meaningful form.

Legacy was not about titles, accomplishments, recognition, or building something to celebrate oneself. It was about family. It was about memories. It was about time, opportunity, and using whatever abilities a person possesses to help someone else.

Those experiences became the foundation for the work Josh pursues today. Whether preserving personal stories through TributeSpeak®, supporting respiratory patients through RespiraLink Interactive™, or helping organizations solve real-world challenges through McGuire Legacy Consulting, the mission remains the same:

Build something meaningful.

Serve people well.

Leave a positive impact that outlives the work itself.

The Origin of TributeSpeak®

After nearly losing his son Joshua, the idea first inspired by the loss of Josh's mentor returned with greater clarity and urgency.

For years, he had carried a simple but powerful belief: the most valuable parts of a person's life are often the things most easily lost.

Voices fade. Stories are forgotten. Wisdom disappears. Future generations are left with photographs and dates, but without the context, personality, and experiences that gave those memories meaning.

Determined to change that, Josh began laying the foundation for what would become TributeSpeak®, a venture dedicated to preserving the stories, voices, experiences, and life lessons that connect generations.

TributeSpeak® was built on the belief that a person's legacy extends far beyond milestones and accomplishments. It lives in the conversations they shared, the challenges they overcame, the lessons they learned, and the impact they had on the people around them.

What began as an idea years earlier became a mission: to help families preserve the substance of a life so future generations can hear the voices, remember the stories, and remain connected to the people who helped shape them.

The Origin of RespiraLink Interactive™

While developing the interactive concepts behind TributeSpeak®, another pivotal conversation occurred.

One day, while discussing the interactive features Josh was developing for TributeSpeak®, Charlene made a simple observation.

She remarked that it was too bad those same interactive capabilities could not somehow be adapted for respiratory education.

For most people, the comment might have ended there.

For Josh, it became a question he could not stop thinking about.

He began researching, asking questions, studying operational workflows, exploring regulatory considerations, and examining how clinics might provide patients with greater access to respiratory education while preserving the role of healthcare providers in patient care. What started as a conversation gradually evolved into a larger idea.

The more Josh learned, the more he recognized an opportunity to improve access to respiratory education and support while respecting existing clinical relationships and provider responsibilities.

That conversation ultimately became the spark for RespiraLink Interactive™.

The inspiration behind the venture was deeply personal.

For more than 25 years, Charlene McGuire has dedicated her career to respiratory care. Throughout those years, Josh watched her bring knowledge, compassion, and professionalism to countless patients while also witnessing the pressures, challenges, and burnout experienced by many healthcare professionals.

Her career provided real-world insight into the needs of patients, the realities of clinical practice, and the important role respiratory therapists play in helping people navigate complex respiratory conditions and therapies.

Josh founded and developed RespiraLink Interactive™ as a clinic-integrated respiratory education model designed to help clinics connect patients with licensed respiratory therapists for personalized education and support. The clinic initiates the interaction, remains the provider of record, and retains responsibility for diagnosis, treatment, and clinical decision-making.

While Josh developed the business model, operational framework, workflow design, technology strategy, and intellectual property direction, Charlene's experience and continued guidance helped shape the purpose behind the venture.

Today, Charlene serves as Clinical Operations Advisor, providing respiratory therapy subject-matter expertise, reviewing workflows, and offering clinical and operational guidance. Although she does not hold an ownership interest in McGuire Legacy Group LLC or RespiraLink Interactive™, her influence on the venture remains significant.

For Josh, RespiraLink Interactive™ is more than a healthcare business.

It is a way to honor Charlene's decades of service, recognize the expertise of respiratory therapists, and build something that improves education, support, and patient understanding during vulnerable moments in their healthcare journey.

In many ways, RespiraLink Interactive™ represents two lifelong passions coming together: Josh's desire to build meaningful solutions and Charlene's commitment to helping patients breathe easier.

A Different Understanding of Legacy

Josh is not trying to leave his family a monument to himself.

He wants to leave them opportunities.

He wants to create platforms they can develop, businesses they can carry forward, and proof that difficult beginnings do not have to dictate how a person’s story ends.

Across every venture, the same pattern emerges.

TributeSpeak® began with a mentor whose life mattered.

RespiraLink Interactive™ began with Charlene’s experience, insight, and dedication to respiratory care.

JMcG Creative Studios was built with Joshua’s creativity and future in mind.

McGuire Legacy Consulting represents the experience Josh earned through decades of building, struggling, failing, adapting, and continuing forward.

Every venture began with a person, relationship, or experience that mattered deeply to him.

Still a Builder

Josh does not claim to have all the answers. He is not a clinician or software engineer, and he did not begin his career inside a startup ecosystem.

His strength lies in learning complicated systems through research, analysis, and practical application. He connects ideas across industries, surrounds himself with knowledgeable people, translates complex challenges into workable processes, and persists when the path is not obvious.

At an age when many people begin narrowing their ambitions, Josh continues entering unfamiliar rooms. He is developing intellectual property, participating in Oregon’s entrepreneurial community, learning about startup financing, building relationships with clinics and investors, and pursuing pilot validation for RespiraLink Interactive™.

He remains, at heart, a builder.

The materials have changed from lumber, equipment, and properties to workflows, companies, technology, and ideas. The method has not.

Study the problem. Work with people who understand it. Build a foundation. Test what has been created. Keep improving it.

A Legacy Worth Building

Josh McGuire’s story is not one of perfection.

It is the story of an immature young man who accepted responsibility and decided he wanted a better life. It is the story of a worker who turned practical skills into business ownership, a businessman who learned to see the human consequences behind financial transactions, and a student who returned to education after gaining experience in the real world.

It is the story of a friend who wanted to preserve the memory of a mentor.

A husband who wanted to honor his wife’s career.

A father who nearly lost his youngest son and emerged with a deeper understanding of purpose.

And a founder determined to turn second chances, painful lessons, and deeply personal experiences into something capable of helping others.

Josh is not building a legacy to glorify where he started.

He is building one to honor the people who helped him rise, the family that gave the struggle meaning, and the lives he still hopes to touch.

His past taught him accountability.
His mentors taught him possibility.
Charlene showed him a problem worth solving.
Joshua taught him what legacy truly means.

Everything he is building now is his answer.
